The curriculum at WBAIS provides a
pathway for life-long learning by encouraging active involvement in
organized investigation and creative thinking. Ours is a standards based
education organized around overarching 'standards' and 'benchmarks' for
student learning. The standards provide a school wide focus on our
graduation outcomes, while the benchmarks establish grade level
expectations for student learning.
This US-based curriculum is focused on student-centered learning where
students can acquire knowledge, problem-solving abilities, critical
thinking, and communication skills. These skills will provide a more
complete understanding and appreciation of our world community.
The curriculum framework published at WBAIS guides each of our learners
at every grade level toward our desired outcomes and essential
qualities. It identifies, for everyone, the important and
developmentally appropriate building blocks along the way.
We would like to share the great things that are happening in our
classrooms with parents, students, teachers and other schools through
our Atlas Rubicon site. Good curriculum is dynamic, fluid and ever
changing to meet the needs of the students. At WBAIS, our curriculum is
responsive and continually being updated and improved, while maintaining
adherence to the highest national standards.
IMPORTANT NOTE:
Readers of these curriculum documents should be cautioned that a
curriculum map is never “finished,” because the maps need to reflect
current and relevant events that are covered in class. The maps reflect
the expectations of the teacher for the course, recognizing that goals
may be accomplished early, or may not be completed as expected. This may
be due to how quickly the students grasp the material, changes in
schedules, assemblies, field trips etc. You may also find that some maps
differ in stages of completion. This is due to the fact that some are
being currently changed, updated, or rearranged.
If you have any questions about the curriculum at any level, contact the
school principal:
